"Important Announcement

"Effective immediately, Red Roo Models is ending sales to the USA and EU. Australia Post has announced suspension of all transhipped parcel services and the Delivery Duty Paid options through FedEx/DHL/Aramax/Toll are prohibitively expensive for small shipments. It has become increasingly difficult to prepare and process parcels for shipment to the EU and US. Resulting changes to import policies in the US and EU have created an environment where personal imports are no longer a simple option.

"Both the EU and US have removed the de minimus exception, where shipments under a certain value entered without taxes or duties. In itself, this is may be manageable but many EU states and the US also levy a handling fee for processing imports as well as a wide variation of tariff levels dependant upon the origin of a product. This can exceed the value of the shipment. If the item is rejected at the border it can either be returned at the expense of the merchant or destroyed. In either case we loose the value of the goods plus the shipping costs. This is not affordable for small enterprises like ours.

"Unlike the UK, the EU and US have not provided a realistic pathway for registering for Value Added Tax or Tariff collection. The product safety rules also require an individual resident in the EU to be the nominated representative.

"Australia Post are currently investigating the collection of taxes and tariffs through a third party subscription service but no time limit for the process has been set.

"We will review this policy as new information becomes available. We are very sorry to lose our US and EU customers who have supported us over the last 30 years and we hope that at some future date we will be able to resume sales to them."
