... I must warn you and other folks: use of ultrasonic cutter is more dangerous than "classic" cutter. Let me explain:
In ultrasonic cutter the blade vibrate silently 40,000 times per second. No noise, blade seems to be motionless but it vibres. If you happen to touch the blade it will immediately cut (remember, originally, this was chirurgical equipment).
But don't panic, just follow this:
- Everytime you lay the cutter on the bench, just unplug it for safety.
- don't use a cutter with onboard battery (which is more expensive) and unplug between cuts.
In the case I've to cut in very small areas I use to wear "fingers" from an anti cutting glove on my right hand (I'm left handed) for extra safety.
These gloves sells for about $12 on Am---on: you'll have to cut "fingers" (thumb, 1st and 2d fingers last phalange only) from these with ceramic scissors.
Well... no cut on my fingers in five months!
Two months ago I managed to cut supports from this 3D, 1:72, 1916 Berliet truck without any break in less than 50 minutes. The two lights in the bottom right would have been impossible to separate with a manual device:
The cutter I bought is temporized: after 3mn of use it simply stops for safety and you just have to restart by pressing the side button.
This cutter is supplied with 40 spare blades. From my own experience, each will last very long to cut 3D supports and thin PE. In 5 months of use I had to replace the blade only once after cutting 3mm plexiglas sheets (picture framing)
Guess? Highly recommended
