I am sorry that it took so long to get back to you, I was in the hospital (toe amputation). I hate given my opinion almost as much as you reminding me that I spent $30 on this book. I fortunately can afford to spend $30 on a dubious purchase. I know others of this board can not, so I will specifically give you the differences and let you decide. Both books are 64 pages. The revised edition reduced some of the model photos to make room for the changes. Everything except Model Products and Model Showcase are exactly the same. The revised edition adds listings for the 1/700 Trumpeter Nelson and Rodney kits, 1/700 Meng HMS Rodney kit, the 1/200 Trumpeter HMS Nelson and HMS Rodney kits plus new listings in the aftermarket section but deletes the listings for the 1/1250 Mount Models kits, the 1/1250 Atlas Edition kits, the all wood Nelson and Rodney kits and listing for any paper model kits of the Nelson and Rodney. In the modelers showcase section the revised edition includes a new listing for a 1/200 Trumpeter HMS Nelson (by Oliver Fluery) and a 1/700 Trumpeter HMS Rodney (by Peter Denchfield) but deletes a 1/700 Tamiya HMS Nelson (by Kostas Kateas) and a 1/700 Scratchbuilt HMS Rodney (by Phil Reeder). The other 7 listings stayed the same.
Personally if a found these books in a bookstore side by side, I would buy the revised edition. I listed all of the changes, it is up to the buyer to decide whether these changes are worth $30.
I am actually more disappointed with the revised edition of the Queen Elizabeth Battleships. The four new 1/700 Trumpeter kits and the two new 1/350 Trumpeter are under a single three paragraph listing. In the modelers showcase they included a single page of five photographs for the four 1/700 trumpeter kits and no photographs of either 1/350 Trumpeter kits

Tom I am putting you on the spot. I have the original shipcraft. Do you think it's worth getting the upgraded one? Or perhaps a fairer question, do you regret forking out the 30 bucks to get the new one? Previous Message
Greetings,
I just received my copy of the new revised edition of the Shipcraft 23 HMS Rodney along with the new Friedman book on British Aircraft Carriers. The book is basically very similar to the original. Everything is the same except for the model section. The kit listing has been updated to include the new 1/700 and 1/200 kits and aftermarket parts released since the first book was published. The built-up model section has also changed slightly. Both books have 9 built-up models. The are 5 models common to both books and this book has four new models including and impressive build on the 1/200 Trumpeter HMS Nelson.
Take care, Tom Shepherd
