You are right, Ralph, those 1/350 accessories and deck vehicles are under the name of 3D Wild, but under the same website. Previous Message
Um...
The image in the gallery of a Gerald Ford island was a Shapeways offering of his (and well before the Magic Factory kit release.) It was just the island. He never made deck vehicles that I recall. (Other makers certainly did.) Note sure what else you saw that might have you making this post. Not a Dutch Fleet item. Previous Message
I am interested in the US CVN supplement and deck vehicles kits also, if they can be rescaled to 1/700. Previous Message
You're welcome. As I recall, he did offer full hull 1/700 versions at Shapeways. Naturally, they added to the price. I am suspecting he then likely sold more waterline 1/700 items than full hull, but this is completely a guess on my part.
So, he has started by offering waterline only for his 1/700 scale item. Whether he later will also add full hull options remains to be seen. Basically, at this point, he's just gotten back to the market with a new printing company, and it looks like he is now trying to get PE made as well (he could not include that with Shapeways) so he seems to be "starting small," and offering "some basics." As he gets more established, he could well begin offering full hull 1/700 once again. Give him some time. He has a contact page. I am sure he would be open to suggestions on where to proceed, and/or would be able to answer you with whether or not he firmly plans this. Previous Message
Thanks Ralph for posting the link. The 3D-printed kits look great. Just hope there are full hull 1/700 versions. Previous Message
Dutch Fleet Naval Miniatures was a popular designer on Shapeways, but his designs were no longer available after they folded. Now, I have discovered that he has formed a partnership with 3D-Wild to print his designs.
At the current moment, he only has the RN Type 26 frigate available, but his site lists the next designs he will be working on, and his Facebook page shows that he seems to plan the Constellation class FFG as his next release.
While I was very much aware of his Shapeways models, their prices did not suit me, so I never purchased from him. The cheapest 1/700 Constellation FFG was in the horrible PA-12 material. The "good one" in acrylic resin was well over $100. Based on photos of, and the price of, his current Type 26, I am hoping/expecting his Constellation to be of better quality and for a better price than it was back on Shapeways. I will be keeping my eye on it.
Just FYI to all.
