Never Paul the owner, however, and I haven't pressed the editors I've worked with because it's a volunteer organization and I'm sure they have enough going on right now.
That said, one did confirm that Paul Yarnall passed in January and they are having administrative issues essentially based on a lack of fail-over / succession planning. There have been enough successful hijackings of sites and domains that the companies involved will give almost no grace with granting access to strangers "after the fact."
I wish them luck - Navsource is an important resource that the world needs. There is intent to bring it back if they can't gain access to fix the current problem, but I have no idea what the time frame is. Previous Message
His death alone shouldn’t cause the website to stop working. Either required fees haven’t been paid to the host to keep it operating, or there is some technical glitch. I suspect it’s a failure to pay the required fees. If he was operating the site alone, it’s likely that his surviving family etc, simply were unaware of the need to pay for it. Previous Message
Without getting into details, the owner passed away in a January. There are issues to be sorted out by the staff with his passing. It is not a technical (e.g., server) problem. Previous Message
I have it on good authority that the owner is alive and well. Some kind of technical issue. Rumor has it it's a dead server. See the thread below.
