Without having the 20MM fit at my fingertips, I do have a significant correction for the heavier AA fit. She had 5 quad 1.1's at Eastern Solomons, but by Santa Cruz the original 4 mounts had been replaced by quad 40MM (with the raised mount by the crane being moved to the deck edge further aft). She retained the quad 1.1 on the bow. Previous Message
Hello All,
Does anyone know the precise light AA fit of the Enterprise at the Battle of Santa Cruz? I think she had five quad 1.1s, including one at the bow, and had some (six?) additional single 20mms added after Midway, for a total of 38; does anyone know where those were mounted? I assume by Santa Cruz she no longer had any .50s and as yet had no twin or quad 40mms.
I have long wanted to build her as she was when her LSO Robin Lindsey brought on board not only her aircraft but also orphans from the Hornet with one elevator down.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
