Agreed. It makes absolutely no sense. While taking up valuable space it would have been useless in the Pacific, except perhaps in Hawaii. Previous Message
That "woody" automobile would have made a good conflagration if hit by hot fragments. it was decidedly nonessential, and constituted a hazard. I am astounded it was on the ship. I am fascinated by this. Something decidedly odd turns up 83 years after the ship was sunk. Now here is a real case for naval wreck archeology.
