I’m thinking this is May 4, 1942, when Task Force 11 centered on Saratoga meets TF 44, including HMAS Australia, in the Coral Sea. Previously TF 11 had met up with TF 17 centered on the Enterprise on May 1st.
My Dad was on the Farragut with Task Force 11 and which might be the destroyer in your last picture.

These photos might be of CV-2 in early 1942. Sara was damaged by a Japanese submarine torpedo 11 January 1942.
