The full story I read was that the ship made a hard turn to avoid incoming missiles and a plane was in transit, being moved from the hangar bat out to an elevator. If this story is wrong, then I'll agree that somebody should get some serious punishment. I don't know what Chief you are referring to, but I hope it's the S-2 Supply chief - I never loved those guys.
