Politics and economics are intertwined to a high degree. If everyone here can discuss the relevance to ship models (or modeling in general), and at the same time keep it civil I am OK with that. But the minute it goes off tangent or becomes a slugfest of insults, it will be shattered into constituent electrons.

FWIW I agree with Tom as well. I want politics off this board as much as anyone, but if we can't discuss the price/availability of the products that are necessary to participate in this hobby then what is this place for?
To me the difference between politics and the impacts of specific current events on the hobby seems fairly clear.
For those who wish to discuss the "larger strategic issues" at play that aren't related to the hobby, I'd respectfully ask that you do so somewhere else. Previous Message

This isn’t political. It’s economics. It’s relevant to all of us here, especially those who don’t have deep pockets.
If a distributor or producer goes out of business, is that political?
If a company raises its prices should we not discuss it? Regardless of your political leanings the economics affect us all.
Screw the larger strategic issue. For us it’s about OUR hobby and its survival. Previous Message
Get over it guys. There is a much larger strategic issue at play here that has nothing to do with us playing with plastic toys.
Moderator,
Can we stop with the political banter over tariffs?

Model railroading is a huge hobby in the U.S. but heavily dependent upon foreign manufacturers.
