Modern PLAN ships are painted in a very light gray overall with medium-dark decks.
I had, in 2016, the opportunity to see the Type 054A frigate Xiangtan (531) at Kiel, and my choice for the color of the vertical surfaces is Vallejo Game Color 72.046 and Vallejo Model Color 70.836 for the decks (in 1/700 scale).
