I agree the Yamato is the best one although I didn't mind the Eternal Zero. Letters from Iwo Jima was my fav of the three though I realize it's in a bit of a different category than the other two, however also telling the battle from Japan's perspective. I always thought a movie based on the excellent book Japanese Destroyer Captain would be a worthwhile project.

I have a couple of Japanese films on DVD, the better one is the Yamato film
I have to say the non-Yamato, modern-day scenes were of no interest at all. I fast forwarded these to the action scenes. These were exceptionally well done and captured the relentless violence of the attacks on Yamato.
In the absence of any combat footage, a well done movie like the Yamato one, and hopefully this one, are the closest we'll ever get to seeing what happened to these ships. Previous Message
