if memory serves (I built those ships the better part of 50 years ago!), the Prinz Eugen and Narvik-class destroyer also had the insides of the hull scored so that the model could be built as a waterline model. There was no plate to put on the bottom, though - the bottom of the hull was just left open. The Forrestal, on the other hand, was fully designed to be built as a waterline kit as well as full hull.

Recently on YouTube I watched a guy build the old Airfix Moscow kit and it showed how you could water line this old kit.So my question is how kits after the Moscow kit came out(1969-71?) by Airfix were
waterline possible. I just remember they seem full
