I would imagine ALL days in 1942 were VERY busy at PHNY.
This is a view looking towards the Yard from the Southeast lock on 9/1/42.
Taking a closer look, we see USS California on the right just ahead of the transport in the foreground. We also see the cagemasts of USS Maryland in the yard and also, on the left we see USS New Mexico or USS Mississippi (not sure which).
