I have wanted to build an Omaha-class light cruiser in this scale for nearly 2 decades, especially the Marblehead (for its extraordinary escape from the IJN in February 1942), so when I saw this advertised on our favorite international auction site, I ordered one right away. It seems to be the typical Globaltoy-type casting, all orange resin, but it arrived yesterday (after only a month or so since ordering) and this kit is EXQUISITE! The whole hull is in a single, very crisply made piece (no split hull with seams to fix) and all parts are very precisely presented in their casting cages. No sticky uncongealed parts. The only (very minor) issues are that the portholes are too small (easily fixable with the right drill bit) and, for the Feb. 1942 version, there should be seven 3-in. AA guns, but the kit only has six. Fortunately, I have some spares I can use. There are no assembly instructions (typical for this manufacturer) but, aside from some uncertainty as to which ventilators go where, it should not be a difficult build. As usual, I'll have to rely on internet-accessible photos and diagrams. Incidentally, the tariff recently imposed on Chinese products either was ignored or paid by the shipper and incorporated into my original purchase price.
