Scale Colors have been around for about 5 years. They are acrylic. Jeff Herne developed them, the WWII Navy colors (pre-Fed Std) match the Snyder & Short colors. The RAL/RLM colors match references which Jeff obtained from his network of friends.

They never sold well because Jeff was a one man shop and the paints were sold at shows and advertised by word of mouth. Jeff’s Scale Colors operation was indeed a boutique shop.

The end of 2024 Jeff and Brandon @ Squadron entered a deal to have Squadron take over the production and marketing of the paints. Jeff remains as a consultant. There are about 160 colors available now with plans to add more up to about 300 in time for the IPMS Nats in August. National and worldwide coverage.

They are optimized for airbrushing and do spray very well. They can be hand brushed for touchups, but hand brushing a whole subject may be problematical.
