I was tempted to try the 1/700 scale SS Model 3D printed HMS Implacable kit but then looking closely at the CAD rendering on the auction site, you can see that they tried to simulate welded steel plating on the flight deck (!) and on the side of the island, which to my knowledge is inaccurate (or at least greatly overscale). It looks just hideous. They ruined what looks like an otherwise very appealing model. I don't know why they do this. I just don't have the patience to repair that kind of unnecessary harm to what otherwise looks like a very nice rendering. Hopefully, someday a more serious manufacturer will come out with this ship. Or they can always rework the master and re-release it. I assume that since we are talking about a CAD-based stl file it should not be difficult to do. I might get it if they were to fix that problem. Best, Mike E. ![]() Felix gives us the bad news. And saves me some money. Bottom line, avoid this kit at all costs. Too good to be true, I guess. http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/ships/hms/subs/Alliance-350-na/SSModels_Alliance.html |
