My cousin spent 30 years in the Coast Guard. Started as an enlisted recruit. Ended as a warrant officer. He's just as happy to now be out, and in a new chapter of his life. His reply when I asked was, "I don't know, but whatever it is, it's ugly." I did let him know what it was, and in my message I wrote that I knew he probably didn't care. He's not replied. He doesn't care. Nothing about the Coast Guard fascinates him.
You're welcome. Glad we satisfied ourselves. Previous Message
Yes you did, satisfy curiosities. That was the strangest contraption, so I had to know. When my model is out there, I'm sure I'll be asked about it. Hope you told your cousin, I'm sure he will want to know also. Thanks again! Previous Message
I knew it was an antenna. The Catch 22 is that--unless you know what kind of antenna it is--you almost can't search for it. "Antenna" is a huge category, and terms are needed to narrow that down. So, predictably, my search was not really getting anywhere. Until I found the Thales site. Once NVIS got added to the search terms, it all improved nicely enough. Satisfied both our curiosities. Excellent, thank you! I would have never guessed that it was an antenna. Googled "Details of NVIS antennas" and saw that it could also use an inverted "V" configuration. Previous Message
Still searching, no luck yet. Previous Message
Well, I had high hopes. My cousin is recently retired Coast Guard. I emailed him the question last night. Unfortunately, he does not know. I am now curious myself. I am not sure where to go looking. Hopefully you'll get a knowledgeable reply. Previous Message
