Where you will find it in this link is "complicated." It is a long discussion. At one point, a poster to the thread starts presenting a series of posts on NVIS antenna, with attached photos. His fifth series post deals with the Sentinel class, and his photos indicate that is exactly what the antenna is. You must simply read, there is no getting past it. You are looking for a paragraph--well down into it--which begins:
"This post is the fifth of a short series relating to:- Near Vertical Incidence Skywave (NVIS) Loop Antenna Arrays - (continued) Also, folllowing on from the previous commitment in post #635......"

His fifth of the series has 6 attachments.
Here are the two best:

Here is the catalog with the part...tenth item down:

As I wrote, I was not sure where to even go looking. Found your post, and it's a quiet weekend. Went searching. With my eyes glazing over, and about to quit, I ran into this:

So, what the heck is an NVIS antenna? Off on a new search. Got nothing definitive. However, if you read descriptions of the antenna, and see the NVIS antennae installed on other systems, you see a strong similarity between those and what's on the cutter. Finally, I looked at all the other antennae on those cutters, and that inverted U is the only thing that looks to fit the bill. I have absolutely zero proof, but at this point, I strongly suspect it is the NVIS HF antenna. I am done searching. Good luck to you. Previous Message
Still searching, no luck yet. Previous Message
Well, I had high hopes. My cousin is recently retired Coast Guard. I emailed him the question last night. Unfortunately, he does not know. I am now curious myself. I am not sure where to go looking. Hopefully you'll get a knowledgeable reply. Previous Message
