Slightly off-topic, but in the case of German destroyers, the mine rails were permanently installed, and the depth charge launchers were temporarily bolted over the rails for anti-submarine missions. ![]() looking at George Mack's 'HMS Intrepid' the "I"s embarked their rails, but carried them over the engine room plates(?), and installed them as needed. Still in need of info on "E"s and "O"s. TIA ![]() Rails- Mine- Disposition of when ship is not on mine-laying mission, but rather operating in destroyer configuration. Were the mine-tracks permanently in place, or only put aboard for a mining operation. British Esk, Express, Ivanhoe, Ithuriel, and the 4 "O"s |
