The easiest solution is "Don't feed the trolls." Troll bait is easy to notice. Personally, I decline to read any posts on those topics. My advice to those that do is: Do not post anything in response -- no matter how much it disturbs your sensibilities.
One way to 'moderate' would be for the first person to notice such a post, to post their own "Don't Feed the Troll nt" in the subject line.
A second solution would be to create a closed 'members only' Facebook group with clearly defined rules for participation. I wouldn't be willing to volunteer, but I have seen some people post that they would like to be this website's moderator.
I know we would probably lose some Steel Navy regulars by moving to Facebook. Admittedly it has some of its own issues. But I recently joined a WW1 Aircraft modeling group and like it better than the Google version I joined a couple of years ago.
That said, I'd like to read about any other solutions that others may have.
I'd hate to see the Steel Navy website go away, but it seems inevitable, if things continue the way they are. I would hope that the information on the site would remain available, but the message board may need to go.
