I have always believed that she was still in 5-D overall with 5-L Light Gray fighting tops. She was scheduled for a major overhaul on the west coast, so a repainting seems unlikely. Moreover,she was just out Drydock #2 where the damage from the collision with OKLAHOMA was repaired. Photos from DD#2 clearly show the dark gray paint. The collision repair would have used existing paint stocks of 5-D.

Had ARIZONA completed her refit as planned, I believe she would have been painted in MS 11, overall 5-S (or 5-N, if available). PENNSYLVANIA was painted in MS 11 by April 1942.
