The 4 navy yard built New Orleans class ships (?CA-32/34/36/38) had a wider (fore and aft) searchlight tower that extended through the edges of the boiler room intake between the stacks all the way to the deck. The other 3 (CA-37/39/44) had a narrower tower that rested totally on the intake. These 3 towers were still different from the Brooklyn towers, even though they were closer than those on the first 4 New Orleans units listed. Previous Message
the Brooklyns platforms forward legs are angled & the back legs are vertical. this according to the Booklet of General Plans for both classes I have on my computer. Previous Message
Are the double tiered searchlight platforms found between stacks on New Orleans Class CAs and Brooklyn Class CLs the same? Just learned the double tier platform is being 3D printed in 1/700 and was wondering if they were the same between classes. Boy would that save me some photo-etch folding.
Any help greatly appreciated.
