Another point: France and Britain offered to send troops to Ukraine to stabilise a ceasefire in support of Trump's policy of negotiating a ceasefire! It was Trump who refused any guarantees for Ukraine and that is why these troops were offered - to be sent after the start of a ceasefire! There was no offer to send troops into the war!

Trump wants other NATO countries to spend more on defence. In fact, he probably just wants them to buy more weapons in the US. After the recent experience with Ukraine, this is probably a very bad idea: if Putin were to attack again and Trump were to support Putin again, he would probably refuse to supply spare parts, ammunition or even deactivate the weapons (if they have a software link to the US) - and then these weapons would be useless. This would be a very bad combination: a US administration that not only refuses to support its allies, but even sabotages their weapons systems (as Trump did in the case of Ukraine!).

Now people are dying in Ukraine, for example, because Ukraine is not getting Patriot missiles to defend itself against Russian missile attacks on living quarters!
