With the 2076 sonar:

Without it:

Notice the longitudinal lines in both illustrations running above the 2076 arrays in the first illustration. They look to me like flooding vents.
This link should show photos of the sides of the Airfix kit down at the bottom. No longitudinal lines:

This drydock photo of the actual sub seems to show a faint longitudinal line, and it might be a flooding vent. If so, then it was so faint a detail that Airfix simply ignored it?

Post number 145 (numbered sequentially at the upper right) shows a color image of real sub in drydock. Longitudinal lines looks even more "vague.":

Do you know RN subs as well as US ones? Your thoughts would be great, even if not.

If by “lines”, you mean the flank sonar arrays on the Trafalgar class, they are part of the 2076 integrated sonar system. They are actually slightly raised areas from the hull, containing numerous hydrophones. The submarines were also covered with sound absorbing anechoic materials.
They look like lines in the one OKB photo . I have not seen the kit in person, as I don’t build 1/700 scale. Eyes no longer decent enough for smaller scale.

Hello
I am going to build this submarine but would like to know what the longitudonal lines on either side of the hull are for and why they are not represented in the kit. I have seen them on the OKB Grigorov kit. Thanks
Tom
