Working on Yao’s 1/700 AZ Stern Crane, Boat Deck Cranes and their infamous Hornet Island (mainly for the aircraft crane and tripod mast) . 1st rule of thumb …. buy extras. 2nd rule of thumb Yao’s packing of their products stinks, see 1st rule of thumb. 3rd rule of thumb they print with an incredibly brittle resin , see 1st rule of thumb. 4th rule of thumb, they always put an attachment point on hook at end of crane. 5th rule of thumb you will lose the hook when you cut the attachment point.

Summary due to poor packing and brittle resin, out of 7 Hornet islands purchased I was able to salvage 3 tripod masts and 4 aircraft cranes minus hooks and 1 aft mast. AZ stern crane lost merely the hook and same with AZ boat deck cranes both came away cleanly. All else went in garbage pail.

I seen other finer detailed 3D printed offerings with less attachment points but also avoiding the more delicate portions of the offering. Note to self avoid Yao.

Note to Lars : the Hornet Islands were not defective they were all made like crap.
