As I said I will wait until the dust settles but I find it suspicious that many Chinese E-Bay dealers were not available to ship until the day of the mail suspension. Chinese New Year perhaps but that does not end until the 12th. Also included the in mess of Feb 5, the Holy HobbyEasy.
Now it has already been established the suspension has been lifted and US Customs has no means to charge tariff to the individual American /Chinese therefore the tariff is meaningless and a moot argument at least for today. For the wholesale buyer like Stevens it is real and the price increase will show with the next Flyhawk, Trumpeter, Vee etc. release. I have stated on this board I do not like the sales practices of Vee or Very Fire. So I avoid.
My hobby needs are met. I strictly collect two eras of USN 1/700 only. I will not be one of those hobbyists when I croak an estate buyer makes a fortune on E-Bay.
I must admit I do love the latest Chinese 3D printing from Bunker Studio, Heavy Hobby/Muyi and to a smaller degree EV. With those 5 Star 3D printers I may buy bulk. Maybe that is over with. But Yao and GAGA cured me of venturing further in the Chinese 3D print market other than a sample purchase . Especially when they use digital pictures or substitute 1/350 pictures and pass them off as 1/700.
Right now I am keeping my eye on a 3D printer on E-Bay who resides in the American Mid West He is matching Chinese print quality. Uh-Oh.
Yup E-Bay can collect tariff, they collect local sales taxes which vary so tariff collection is a slam dunk for E-Bay . I have not seen any communication from E-Bay but who knows it maybe coming .
Meanwhile my wallet is closed to China until smoke clears. Don’t like when Chinese dealers work in lockstep. Something more may be lurking beneath their waters.
I really don’t care that the rest of the world gets its Chinese hobby needs cheaper but your sympathy is accepted if that is what you’re offering. Would it had been nicer and less explosive if the present admin. used the term VAT instead of tariff like the EU does ? Unknown . But then I am assuming of course Europeans pay a VAT when they shop outside the EU.
Topic closed for me as is my wallet. Makes me weary to go around in circles. Previous Message
You forgot something:
Only people in the US pay those tariffs.
Chinese dealers pay nothing. Why they should raise the prices!? They would also increase the price for customers outside the US.
But if e.g. eBay collects the money for the US, if you tariffs via eBay, it could look more expensive for US customers.
