Note that the Revell Lionfish screws all turn in the same direction, which is wrong. They should be starboard, clockwise; port,
counterclockwise. The screw blades in the kit are all in one direction. And while Lionfish was a Balao, the conning tower fairwater is a Gato (sort of…).
I have most of the Silent Service episodes on my computer’s drive. Funny to see Leonard Nimoy and DeForrest Kelly show up in a couple episodes long before their Star Trek days. Previous Message
I am working on the 1/178 Revell 'Flasher' kits
and also have [and will work on later] 3X 1/144 scale Trumpeter Gatos. Thank you again for that ''Nautilus'' link reminded me of the information about hull flood vents and templates, etc. I appreciate the effort that goes into data like that.
I remember finding the site years ago and buying 2X 1/178 Revell 'Flasher' sail replacement kits. 'Finally' a replacement for the old 1970s models. I immediately ordered one each SS Harder and SS Icefish just to get the 1944 update into my hands. I just don't remember 'Nautilus' offering deck guns in 1/178.
I have heard accumulation is a problem with other modelers as well.
Agree, the 1/144 'Gato' is better than the Revell Lionfish kit. I have seen images of very well done 1/144 boats-which lets the builder apply more detailing skills. The kit and its size put me in a happy place. So, soon more nicely priced same kits appeared on E*B*A*Y or here on S/N. And I thought I should at least inquire.
I was a big fan of the vintage 'The Silent Service' TV show. Currently there is a 'Silent Service Episodes Season 1' and one can select an ep. [descriptions included, i.e.'The Loss of the Tang'] and now I also see ''USS Bergall: 'The Bergall's Revenge'' And of course the old series 'Victory at Sea'.
But my 1/178 Revell 'Flasher kit has been here a lot longer. The box art alone calls me.
1/350 Nautilus Models RESIN USS Nautilus [Narwhal Class Cruiser Sub] will be a follow-up build and I 've been wondering if anyone makes an 'improved' 1/350 deck gun or sail. Do I inquire to the on-line 3-D Printing sites ?

I’m a bit confused. Are you working on the 1/140 scale Trumpeter Gato or the 1/178 Revell Lionfish kit?
Your original post said a 1/144 scale, which would be the Trumpeter 1944 kit, The Trumpeter kit, while not perfect, is arguably better than the Revell Lionfish kit. Previous Message
Mostly I'm looking for some 5-inch/25 deck guns and 40mm AA guns in 1/178 scale. Upgrading would be great for the old boat kits. Previous Message
They sure had a long varying list of scales that didn't seem to matter back when they were 'box scales' and even that was assumed.
