On Aug 5, 1941 President Roosevelt transferred from the Presidential Yacht Potomac to USS Augusta off Martha's Vineyard. Many other dignitaries including King were aboard. They sailed to Argentia, Newfoundland to meet with Churchill aboard HMS Prince of Wales for top secret talks regarding the role of the US in WWII.
With ADM. King aboard, you can bet those wooden decks gleamed!
