Hi Lars,
The three ships you see in the first color pic is (from left to right) USS Astoria wearing MS-1, USS Portland wearing MS-1, then USS Chicago who was just freshly painted into MS-11. Chicago is the lighter ship you are seeing. MS-11 was overall Sea Blue 5-S. The camera ship in these color shots is USS Minneapolis who was also wearing MS-1 like Astoria and Portland.
The movie was about the Marines, hence the title.

Which camouflage patterns are these? Was Portland painted in a different measure compared to Astoria and Minneapolis? She appears to be lighter.
Why they used Pacific fleet ships for the movie To The Shores of Tripoli?
