You go look up Boardhost. They allow the creation of free message boards. On a free board, it is free because they run ads on the board. There is also a paid service. That gets you no ads. Steve chose to pay to keep ads off the board. (Spam is another separate issue.) Basically, Steve ran Steelnavy, and also paid for this message board. The board is a separate entity, which is why it has a separate, unrelated URL. "Steelnavy dot anything" is not in the message board URL. People looking for Steelnavy are not finding the DNS, or--as in my case--are finding a site, but with no images, and all links to any Steelnavy items (like the kit reviews, gallery, etc.) dead. (And L'Arsenal's images in their post also can't be located.) But, the Boardhost server is running.

So, Steelnavy.net is having a problem. It could be software. But, it could also be an unpaid bill. It could be "actively dying."

Boardhost's terms and conditions state that if not one single post appears on this board for 90 days, it will be considered inactive, and they will remove it. So, for the board, if it is paid up and remains paid up, it will run ad-free. If payments stop, but there's at least one post every 90 days, it will stay up, but you will see advertisements all over the place.

The outlook for the future of this board then looks a little brighter, perhaps. But the Steelnavy.net website is obviously "not healthy," and might be going away. If so--as shown with the latest L'Arsenal posting--there will be nothing to link images to, unless they're hosted anywhere but on Steelnavy. And we may soon start seeing tons of ads appear...
