Afghanistan: the attack was made by a group of mainly Saudi-Arabian citizens plus citizens of UAE, Lebanon, and Egypt. The attack was prepared (by that terrorist group) in the US, in Spain, and Germany. The organization of that terror group, al-Qaida, was based in Afghanistan. Did it help to invade Afghanistan? What was achieved there to weaken the Islamist terror? Was it worth to sacrifice the live of thousands of soldiers and ruin the life of much more? Based on the number of attacks, nothing was achieved. There were a lot of attacks after the invasion... In Afghanistan itself, the situation is now much worse than before the invasion, because now the Taliban control the complete country and many fled to other countries (also many already because of war and before that because of the civil war and before that because of the Soviet invasion).
Iraq: I refer to the 2003 war (not the 1991 one). At that time, Iraq was a country severely weakened by the blockade. All the claims that he was still a significant threat turned out to be wrong. Nothing was found to verify these claims. In contrast, the Iraq-based Daesh (IS) developed into a severe threat, both regional and world-wide. Daesh did not even exist prior the US invasion, i.e. the threat was much worse after the invasion than before. Now, Iraq are ruled by pro-Iranian politicians. A large number of people fled from Iraq...
Ukraine: I referred to the 2022 attack. That one was not surprising, the US had very good intelligence and made that public. I am not sure, if a more clear stand would have helped - therefore I had written "I wonder what would". It is Putin's tactic to constantly threaten with nuclear apocalypse: if the West deliver tanks, ups nothing happened; if the west deliver long-range missiles; nothing happened; if the west deliver fighter planes etc. I was talking of the situation BEFORE the 2022 attack.
