Are you sure it is 1/125 scale? I don’t recall ever seeing a Gato class model in 1/125. The larger scales are usually 1/144 and 1/72.
One solution wound be to switch to the slightly smaller 1/144 kits from Trumpeter. That is a decent starter kit and I think there is a selection of aftermarket options at that scale.

Anyone know where I can possibly find a program (?) for this? Have a 125 scale Gato kit and would like a Cavalla sail. Have a friend with a 3D printer who said if I could find something they might be able to do it. Thanks in advance.
