I try to use .040 or thicker (.060 or .080) on 1/96 scale. For small destroyers/escorts, definitely .040. Larger (over 400 scale feet) should use the heavier. It is sturdier and won't warp as easy in heat and direct sunlight.

I think you mean 0.030" or 30 thou.
030 is still a bit thin for larger sections, it will flex and warp over time.
I use 040 or 060, with plenty of reinforcements inside on larger sections.

I am wondering when scratch building a ship's superstructure in 1/96 scale. Should you use 0.30 or 0.40 plastic sheet?
