My initial response is "LOL". I see a lot of not so gorgeous things on that model: the two-piece hull with that wicked seam, the flight deck markings that would swallow a man or aircraft if they were full sized, the soft details on some parts. Not to mention everything is printed (in that horrible orange color) integral to the hull, making painting problematic.

"Plastic never quite lived up to its promise"? Sorry, but I'll take the VeryFire Taiho over this product any day of the week.

3D printing has come a long way and has indeed revolutionized the hobby, but - in my opinion - isn't quite ready for prime time when it comes to large scale kit releases.

When they can print a large hull in one piece with limited print artifacts, layer it for ease of painting and sharpen some of the details, I'll be ready to take the plunge.

Until then, the reports of the death of plastic kits has been greatly exaggerated.
