That is indeed sad news!
I bought my first book directly from there shop in 1981, and had standing orders for several book series, of which the Model Art was cancelled due to import costs. I'm also surprised that no contact was made to long-standing customers.
Still, its another great loss.

Yes, it has indeed closed. The shop's last day was Saturday, August 31st, if not Sunday the 1st.
A sad day, but at least now Gabi and Uwe will be able to take some vacation.
The shop had been in business since 1964 (!).

I have been trying to reach the Christian Schmidt book store's website for about a month with no luck. Every time I tried to reach their website, I get redirected to Zinnfigueren book store in Berlin. This is a fine bookstore and I am satisfied with their service. It is just that I have been dealing with Christian Schmidt since 1992 and have developed a very good relationship with their workers. If the store was going to close, I would have expected some sort of announcement or EMAIL. I hope that some of our European members could verify that the store has closed.
