1) I use Tamiya Sharp Pointed Side Cutter NO.123 (74123). They have a long, sharp point that really gets into the nooks and cuts the runners off effectively.
2) I have found that many times instead of cutting the part at the attachment point on the part, I cut the runner at the waver while guarding the part from flying away (tape would work if unsure of holding the part with your fingers). Then, I gently cut the runner away from the part. This ensures that I can see clearly where the attachment point is on the part itself.
Of course, practice helps and you will find your best method.
Hopefully this helps.
2 questions if I may:
1 - With the trend towards printed parts, thoughts on how to remove them from the print raft.
2 - With the demise of Shapeways, thoughts on sourcing any Grumman JRF Widgeons or J2F Ducks? I'd be happy with one or two if I could get them?
TIA,
Stuart
