My daughter sent me a picture of the bow section of a sub being barged off the coast of New Jersey at Asbury Park. North bound.
Virginia class? Assume it is bound for Groton
It is a Virginia class being transported from Newport News to Electric Boat in Groton, Either a Block IV or. a Block V bow section. The barges are equipped with special docking gear engaged at Groton to move them onto the land level facility. EB sections are sub assembled at the EB Quonset Point facility and also barged to Groton.
The land level facility has carriers on tracks to move the sections together for final fit out and welding.
Some EB sections are barged south for assembly at Newport News.
