The Smithsonian has most of the civilian ships in their collection, including the Tacoma class frigates, which were considered a civilian construction.

P2 transports, C4, transports, etc. Any of the ships that were used in the late war and post war period in to transport displaced persons immigrating to the US, etc.
There's limited data on Wikipedia and NavSource. The Military Sealift Command (as it is now called) does not have a lot of information on these ships either.
I work as a public historian / researcher at the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration and want to gather as much data as I can so this can potentially become a limited curated exhibition.
