120 years ago, on the 20th of August 1904, the Japanese protected cruiser
Tsushima intercepted and severely damaged the Russian cruiser
Novik off Korsakov (Sakhalin Island).
Novik was scuttled after the arrival of a second Japanese cruiser,
Chitose, and later salvaged and commissioned into IJN service as
Suzuya.
