The APD's were painted in schemes locally (PacFlt) in the hopes of blending in with the islands they were operating at in late 1942-early 1943. Eventually, standard Green Camo colors and schemes were developed in the "DAZZLE phase" and applied.
Even with this color film, it is hard to determine what colors were used in this case. All the colors are faded and appear close to grayscale. No date is listed for this film, but the presents of USS FRAZIER which arrived in the South Pacific area in December 1942, dates the film as being after that. But, FRAZIER left the South Pacific on 18 March 1943 for the Aleutians and operated there until November 1943 and returned to the South Pacific.
