Cut the majority of the moulded piece off with some good 'end pliers'. Use a small chisel to slowly remove the rest. Beware of hot blades and sanding - unless the deck invilved has no planking or other detail.
I converted this Revell 1/1200 WW2 appearance kit into a modern Iowa this way. In this case I sanded off the planking 'details' as they were grossly oversize.
The method holds good for all scales.
Hi:
So are there any tricks? I'm thinking a micro chisel and fine fine sanding paper. Any other ideas?
Thanks for reading.
