II wonder how the U.S. Navy's Constellation-class FFGs compare to the Hunter class and Type 26s and the classes of smaller frigates you listed.
Best regards,
Art
The Australian government has decided that instead of 9 Hunter-class frigates (a variant of the British Type 26), only 6 will be built - and instead 11 smaller frigates and 6 ships that can also operate without a crew will be built.
These designs are in the running for the 11 smaller frigates:
Meko A-200
Mogami 30FFM
Daegu class FFX Batch II and III
Navantia ALFA3000
The first smaller frigates will not be built in Australia, but in Germany, Japan, South Korea or Spain.
The optionally unmanned ships will be built in Australia (based on US experiences and technologies) and will feature a 32-cell VLS and AEGIS.
