Despite what is written on the website linked to by David ("... no other changes were made before her loss."), her configuration did change somewhat. Changes included:
RDF (radar) Types 281, 284 and 285 were fitted.
Tripod foremast and mainmast replaced polemasts.
Single 2pdr mountings were fitted on the roof of the after control (replacing a quadruple 0.5" mounting which was transferred to the roof of "B" turret) and either side of bridge at foc'sle deck level.
Three quadruple 0.5" mountings were not removed – two remained abreast the mainmast, plus the one moved to "B" turret.
Splinter shields were fitted to the deck edge around the twin 4" mountings.
Unlike Ajax, the bridge front was flush, without the forward extension at compass platform level.
Her catapult was removed in July 1941, and replaced by a quadruple 2pdr mounting – a second such mounting is reported to have been fitted, but I've not seen evidence of that.
The lower bridge wings were cut back (presumably to allow better fields of fire for the single 2pdr guns).
As always how much needs to be done depends on the modeller's requirements – close study of photos is, as ever, advised!
What would be the easiest way to do so?
My two thoughts were to use the Flyhawk Achilles kit, or, use my expendable resin B-Resina Ajax kit?
Any advice would be most appreciated.
