Just received this BIG kit from Squadron yesterday. After examining the numerous frets and parts, I have decided to forgo building it until suitable aftermarket upgrades kits are available. The post-1946 island from 3D Wild looks like a good start, but Trumpeter's airwing consists of only a half dozen each of F4U Corsairs and Curtiss SB2C divebombers -- though, thankfully, they are in grey plastic and not that awful brittle clear stuff (historical note: Corsairs operated from US carriers through the Korean War but S2BCs were in active service only until 1947). Plastic propellers are included but they look to be quite clean and well-fashioned. One glaring (for me) issue with the Trumpeter kit is that, although they provide brass photoetch for railing, radars, under-port elevator braces and the edge-of-flight deck antennas, the crane is solid plastic with just variously-sized indentations instead of holes -- this should be entirely replaced with a folding photoetch piece. The quad Bofors and twin Oerlikons also need replacing, but these are available from multiple third party manufacturers, either in brass, brass/resin or 3D-printed.

Meh. Easy addition. Thank you Trumpeter and Squadron! No affiliation to either other than customer. I have to say this kit has one of the best box arts!

Just got the Trumpeter Midway. On first glance it looks like typical Trumpeter fare. One piece hull, typical CV construction. Should build up nicely .One concern at first look is that I don't see anything that looks like arresting cables, or anything related to arresting gear. I'm going to go out on a limb without doing any research and say that I'm pretty sure that the Midway had arresting gear. Good old Trumpeter, do a nice kit and leave one boo boo for us to correct.
