For example, I collected ALL of the 'Osprey' books about the Falklands War...mostly trying to look at pictures, but found it facinatating (~sorta speak) about how Argentina fought with their naval vessels. So Intreging that I was looking into their (ARG) own ASW assets in sense of their S-3 Tracker program/problems!!
And that is Just ONE (1) ship, I have several on others even in Japanese as I was researching both IJN and JMSDF ships!!
( again, for the pictures )

Hello, all~
What have you learned from building replicas of vessels ?
Myself ? I not only purchase a kit & aftermarket sets- I also turn to the auction site and online book sellers for reference materials.
A good many times, I'll also buy a text or two that my kit's service history revolves around.
Example: I bought Five Star's 1:700 LIBERTAD kit. I inquired here about books that deal with the naval aspect of the Spanish Civil War. I now own The Spanish Civil War at Sea & A New International History of the Spanish Civil War, both by author Michael Alpert.
Building & learning....
I went down a real rabbit hole when building KÖNIGSBERG & found great reads by Geirr Haarr on the invasion of Norway- thoroughly enjoyable reads by THAT guy !!
Do you do this sort of thing ? Read of your subject matter when not actually building it ?
If so, what are your better memories in so doing ? I'm after more suggestions in this vein, so thank you !!....
