Although I won't be on that ship until '96, since I was on USS DUNCAN FFG-10, but I was onboard a KNOX-class --> USS GRAY FF-1054. YEAH, ( F F ), I have my hat STILL from 1984/5!!

One is in sun, the other shadow. And the Ford photos show low sun, as Ray notes. All part of the camouflaging properties of the paint. It is supposed to look variable depending on lighting conditions. Making more than a few of the color arguments here in the past from photographs "entertaining." Our eyes are very vulnerable to various illusions.
One thing that really impressed me from Maurizio's pictures (Lars Posted) in the string below is how modern USN Haze Gray will optically change colors based on the lighting (yes, I realize it's an optical illusion) - but the GRF seems to be yellow in some pictures:
