In the case of this kit, the fairwater is the Portsmouth NSY design, which is correct for Torsk. The other variant was an Electric Boat design which had a straight trailing edge and round dead lights. For the most part additional differences between fleet snorkel and Guppy conversions were internal, like battery upgrades and some areas rearranged.
Is this waterline or full hull? I ask because Torsk also received a BQR-2 “chin” sonar dome. If full hull, that should be there as well.
SS Model released a submarine kit, which looks to me like a Fleet Snorkel conversion - e.g. USS Torsk (today museum in Baltimore).
It was first released in 1/350 as USS Whitefish (a cancelled Balao class submarine, i.e. never completed):
USS Whitefish by SSModel
and then as a 1/700 Barbel Class Submarine:
Barbel by SS Model
Obviously, it is not a Barbel class submarine.
What do you think? Can the kit be built as USS Torsk? Or another Fleet Snorkel conversion?
