Folks,
I think this forum is not a good place for us to discuss what it will take to overwhelm the defenses of a modern ship.
When we talk about how many bombs or torpedoes it would take to sink the Yamato, it is just a question of historical academics.
I suspect there are a good number of folks here who have better info than the Somalis and this is talking about real lives as the cost.
I hope there is a congressional committee someplace who is having the same discussion, but I also hope that they are treating it as a classified matter and not allowing other nations into the garages, bedrooms or bathrooms where the classified reports are being stored.
Read each drone was shot down with a SAM. Also that these drones are throwaway one way type programmed sorties.
If both of the above is correct, does the USS Carney and similar vessels have other means to shoot down drones other than a SAM? Also read it is $2million per SAM and storage is limited. Wondering if they can be overwhelmed by a mass attack.
Some merchant ships were struck by drone armaments so assuming they are low warhead type of munitions.
