I think using wire would be awkward to work with (trying to straighten it from a role), and it snapping off the stanchions already glued into the deck.

Hey Francine, I'm in southern Australia - almost right down the bottom. The advice so far suggests I have to buy metal parts in from the UK (Yikes).
